Dr. Dena Schulman-Green, PhD, FAAHPM, is an RCASIA multiple Principal Investigator, Co-Director of the Research and Education Core, and Associate Professor and Director of the Florence S. Downs PhD Program in Nursing Research and Theory Development at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. With a background in gerontology and psychology, she has conducted over 25 years of research focused on patient and family management of serious, chronic illness, including Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and cancer.

Her additional scholarly interests include health-illness transitions, psychosocial issues in cancer survivorship, and the adaptation of research methods for vulnerable populations. Dr. Schulman-Green is internationally recognized for her expertise in qualitative and mixed methods research and as the developer of the Middle Range Theory of Self- and Family Management of Chronic Illness. She is deeply committed to mentorship and leadership development, advancing preparation of the next generation of interdisciplinary nurse and physician scientists.
